“E-Biking – For the Fun of It”

It feels a little silly and maybe even trite to do a post about E-biking, you know, because, well, a lot has been said about them already and some just might not care. Well, I am not here to try to convince anyone about whether they should dismiss them, but what I will say, and what most people who have actually ridden one would say, is that they are FUN! Pure, unadulterated, fun. Now, I like bikes. And I am pretty sure that if you are reading this, you do too. I am fortunate to have been able to ride and own several amazing bikes over the years. These days, you’d be hard pressed to find a bad one. And while I will never give up my traditional, regular, leg-powered bikes, I can honestly say that I have more fun on my e-bike. Part of it is that I know I am not trying to do anything other than enjoy my ride. I know that I will not get the same lung-bursting, arms over the handlebars exertion that I can regularly get on my traditional bikes. I am not looking at my e-bike experience for the workouts – although, one can still be had. No, I simply get on my e-bike to have fun. Fun. Isn’t that what lured us to bikes in the first place? When I was a kid, I can remember my friends and I building wooden ramps over bricks and jumping our bmx bikes all day long. We would set up broom jumping contests, where we would lay a broom over bricks on either end to see who could bunny-hop the highest. We did these things for bragging rights, but really, because it was fun. And that is what e-biking is for me. There are myriad reasons why people might want to ride an e-bike, but for me, it’s simple. I can’t go back to being that young kid again, but my e-bike reminds me that I can come pretty darn close.
